Aurora Public Library District Now Offering Curbside Pickup, Lays Out Reopening Plan

The Aurora Public Library District will be phasing in services beginning today.

(Aurora, Ind.) - With Governor Holcomb's "Back on Track Indiana" plan allowing organizations and businesses to resume services, many have created a phased or reopening plan.

Beginning today, the Aurora Public Library District will be phasing in services. Access to the buildings will happen in stages, allowing the libraries to fully comply with federal and state standards for the safety of staff and community members.

Customers will now be able to pickup library materials curbside and allow community members to place requests for specific library items, including books, movies, and magazines.

Staff members will retrieve the selected items and bring them to your car when you arrive to the library. Items can be requested online or by calling (812) 926-0646. You will also be able to return library items curbside or in the Book Drops located at the Aurora Public Library and Dillsboro Public Library.

During the week of May 11 - 16, curbside pickup services will continue, but the libraries in the Aurora Public Library District will begin to allow the public to use public computers for printing or essential government services.

Due to the limited number of computers that can be used while social distancing, it is requested that recreational use of the computers be delayed until Monday, May 18.

On Monday, May 18, community members will be able to enter the library to browse the shelves and choose items for checkout. Library staff members will be limiting the number of people in the building at all times to help with social distancing. For that reason, you are encouraged to choose your items, checkout, and exit the building to allow others to enter.

Public computers will be available for use and curbside pickup will continue to for those who choose not to enter the building.

Restrictions are anticipated to remain in place throughout the month of May. Restrictions will be reevaluated to determine if they can be lifted safely.

"The Staff and Board of the Aurora Public Library District would like to thank our local community members for their patience and their continued support. We’re looking forward to resuming full services as soon as it is safe to do so. We’ve missed you all and are looking forward to seeing you in the library very soon," says the Aurora Public Library District.
