AUDIO: Special Olympics Medalists Appear On Eagle 99.3

With them are parents and Special Olympics ROD Coordinator Greg Townsend.  Mike Perleberg, Eagle 99.3 (Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - The clanking of medals draped around three exceptional athletes' necks could be heard throughout the Eagle 99.3 studios. Jacob Eldridge, Christa Mullins, and Becky Cashman represented Special Olympics Ripley Ohio Dearborn Counties and Special Olympics Indiana at the Special Olympics USA Games in Princeton, New Jersey last week. They each won a handful of medals and ribbons which they have brought back to southeast Indiana. They visited with Eagle 99.3's Bubba Bo Tuesday morning. "We practiced four to five days a week with (ROD coordinator) Greg Townsend, Jimmy Laub, and my dad was really supportive through my practices and everything" said Eldridge. While Cashman claimed she wasn't nervous prior to her events, Mullins and Eldridge said they had to overcome some butterflies. The Indiana contingent stayed busy between competitions taking a dinner cruise, attending a minor league baseball game, and sightseeing in New York City. What's next for the special Olympians? Special Olympics ROD Greg Townsend said they may try to get into the Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles in 2015.
