(Osgood, Ind.) – Wearing a helmet may have saved the life of an Osgood man whose ATV collided with a truck Monday afternoon.
Ripley County Sheriff’s deputies say Ryan A. Machado, 25, of Osgood, was riding his four wheeler on Railroad Avenue near County Road 200 North in Osgood.
At about 12:51 p.m., Machado attempted to make a left turn into a driveway when he struck the side of a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by Shannon L. Mathews, 24, of Holton.
Machado was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident but did suffer a broken leg. He was taken by medical helicopter to University Hospital in Cincinnati.
Mathews was not injured.
The accident remains currently under investigation by Ripley County Sheriff’s Deputy Steve Sullivan, who was assisted at the scene by Rescue 69, Ripley County Medic and Osgood Fire.
