(Aurora, Ind.) - A coast-to-coast relay will pass through the tri-state area this month.
The American Discovery 250 Relay is a 6,800-mile relay from California to Delaware. The relay, which started in July, sees individuals and groups carry a baton, passing it from one to the next as the relay progresses towards the Atlantic Ocean.
On any given day, there may be between five and 50 participants carrying the baton, and you are welcome to recruit your friends and neighbors.
"Join the celebration by participating for a day or more in a relay, attending some of the locally hosted events, or sharing your story of personal growth and adventure," reads a statement form American Discovery Trail representatives.
The ADT Relay will be in southeast Indiana on Tuesday, October 20. It will start at Gabbard Riverfront Park in Aurora at 8:30 AM. The trail continues into Ohio for an event at the William Henry Harrison Tomb at 11:30 AM. Then, the relay will cross the Ohio River at Anderson Ferry and travel to Devou Park then down and across the Suspension Bridge into downtown Cincinnati.
The relay is a celebration of America and a celebration of the American Discovery Trail — educating people about American history, culture, and nature. This is not a sports or athletic contest, exhibition, festival, parade, or fundraiser. The American Discovery Trail goes past numerous historic sites, through dozens of ecosystems, and it is hosted by hundreds of communities.
Participants who contribute $30 or more will become members of the American Discovery Trail Society and optionally be able to select a souvenir or t-shirt.
