99th Birthday Celebration Set for Dearborn Co. WWII Veteran

The event takes place Friday at the Lawrenceburg Eagles.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - George Klopp Sr. will turn 99 years old on Sunday, April 13. 

A birthday celebration has been scheduled for Friday at the Lawrenceburg Eagles starting at noon. All are welcome to stop in and wish George a Happy 99th Birthday. 

Klopp is a member of America's Greatest Generation and one of the last four living World War II Veterans in Dearborn County. The others are George Lingg, Clarence Cook and JC Lewis. 

Klopp's military career began when he joined the U.S. Navy in June of 1944. He was only 18 when he was shipped overseas for a total of 22 months.  He was awarded with The World War II Victory Medal, The Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, and The American Area Campaign Medal.
