(Madison, Ind.) - New volunteers are needed to help local kids going through some of the most difficult times in their lives.

Voices for Children is a non-profit organization which pairs children who have been abused or neglected with court appointed special advocates, or guardians ad litem.

So far this year, there have been 212 new cases of child abuse or neglect opened in Ripley and Jefferson counties, the areas which Voices for Children covers. Today, 137 of those 212 area kids are still in need of an advocate to speak up for them, according to the organization.

To meet the need, about 50 new volunteers are needed.

Voices for Children is seeking individuals who want to make a difference in the life of a hurting child. Volunteers must be at least 21-years-old, a mature adult, have reliable transportation, and submit to a background check.

A new CASA volunteer training class starts on January 25, 2019. Contact (812) 274-0877 or email tonya@voicesforchildren.net.
