2022 Leadership in Law Summer Internship

This internship is offered to students entering sophomore, junior or senior year this fall.

This one-week intensive program will provide a valuable opportunity for students to observe, interact and utilize leadership skills while participating in a program providing insight into careers in law, law enforcement, and government.

Students will experience:

  • Real court in action
  • First hand experience with CSI crime scene technology
  • Develop Leadership Skills
  • Participate in mock trial proceeding on current legal issues

Judges, Attorneys, Government Leaders and Law Enforcement Professionals will provide a hands-on experience. 

Leadership in law will be offered the week of June 27, 2022 at the Dearborn County Courthouse.  The program will meet at 8:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday and will require participation for the entire week to receive a Leadership in Law Certificate.

The program is offered at NO cost to students and all materials and lunches will be provided.

This program may be limited to the number of participants.  Interested students should complete the application form and write a short essay on: "Why you would like to participate in the Leadership in Law Program".  Return it as soon as possible to the Guidance Office but no later than May 13th. Students will be notified of acceptance and further details by May 31st.

This is our thirteenth year and students have exclaimed their pleasure about the experience even wanting to do again the following year. "It helped me understand how the court system works", "I love the mock trial it was by far the best experience of my life", "I like how it showed me different aspects and categories in the law field.", "It helped me become a better leader. It also showed me how hard and rewarding being in Law is.", "It was very unique and helpful in finding a career path.", "Very cool to see how a crime scene work."

Students will have an exciting opportunity to explore future careers, college choices and provide input to future leadership in law internships while having fun.  If you are thinking of a career as a law enforcement officer, paralegal, crime scene investigator, or attorney, this will be a great experience.
