The Dearborn County Recycling Center (DCRC) and the North Dearborn Branch of the Lawrenceburg Library will host a Community Shred Day on Saturday, April 17, from 10am-1pm to celebrate Earth Day. The event will be held in the parking lot of the North Dearborn Branch at 25969 Dole Road, West Harrison, Indiana 47060.
A mobile shred truck will be available for Dearborn County Residents to shred their confidential documents for free. There is no limit of files for residents. Participants will be asked to remain in their vehicles, and to place boxes of files in the trunk or back of the vehicle where a volunteer can remove the items. The documents will be processed through an industrial bulk paper shredding truck, leaving confetti-sized pieces. The shredded paper will then be recycled.
Paper files to be shredded can be left in folders and envelopes, with paper clips and rubber bands still attached. Participants are asked to remove any cardboard, 3-ring binders, CDs, hard drives, plastics, and back-up tapes. Documents and files should be placed in boxes or paper bags.
In honor of Earth Day, the DCRC and library will be providing reuse craft kits for kids, including a bird feeder made from a 2-liter bottle. Attendees should stop inside the library to receive their craft. Supplies are limited, and will be handed out on a first-come basis. The DCRC will also be handing out reusable bags to attendees.
