Hillforest House Museum
Overlooking the Ohio River in Aurora, the beautiful Hillforest Victorian House Museum was built in 1855 for industrialist Thomas Graff. Its unique shape is said to be inspired by steamboats of the 19th century. The site has been operating as a historic house museum since 1956 and is one of 11 National Historic Landmarks in southern Indiana. Hillforest opens for tours today and hosts many special events throughout the season. GOD AND COUNTRY PATRIOTIC CELEBRATION
Bright Christian Church invites you to join them Sunday, July 3, from 7:00-10:45pm for a GOD AND COUNTRY PATRIOTIC CELEBRATION happening on their grounds located at 24457 State Line Road in Bright, Indiana. This will be a great evening as we recognize our blessings from God, celebrate the freedoms we have as citizens of the United States, and honor our country’s veterans, military, police, fire, and EMS. The evening will include face painting, a bouncy house, spike ball, nine square, gaga ball, and corn hole. There will also be a chili cookoff and entertainment. Lead Pastor, Greg Edens, will give a brief message and recognize our veterans, military and first responders right before the start of the fireworks display at 10:15pm. There will be free hot dogs and lemonade (until it runs out) as well as food for purchase. No alcohol or coolers are permitted on the grounds. Please remember to bring a lawn chair. The position came open when Jeff Bond accepted the principal position at Mitchell High School.
Colonel Andy Gordon will celebrate 33 years of military service on July 15.
Eight inductees will be honored on October 1.
