South Ripley Five Highlight 2023 ORVC Volleyball All-Conference Team

The Raiders won the ORVC title with a perfect 5-0 record.

(Versailles, Ind.) – The Ohio River Valley Conference has named their top volleyball players for the 2023 season.

Sixteen players are featured on the All-Conference Team, including five selections from conference champion South Ripley.

The Raiders went 21-11 (5-0 in ORVC) this season, capturing the ORVC title. They were led by All-Conference selections Lydia Cornett, Lexi Franklin, Kaidyn Gilpin, Ellie Lauber, and Macy Stone. Each of the five all-conference selections were among the key statistically leaders in the conference. 

Lauber and Gilpin ranked only behind Jac-Cen-Dell all-conference selection Maria Meyer in kills. Meyer led the conference with 285 kills in 86 sets played. Lauber and Gilpin followed with 224 and 216 kills, respectively. 

Lauber and Meyer also reached career milestones in 2023, both eclipsing 500 career kills. 

South Ripley's Macy Stone was the conference's leader in aces (74) and second in assists (550), while Lydia Cornett finished second in digs with 365. Lexi Franklin did a little bit of everything for the Raiders, finishing in the top 10 in aces, assists, and blocks. 

Second-place Rising Sun (15-9, 4-1 in ORVC) had three all-conference selections. They are: 

  • Ryan Works: 173 kills (7th), 18 aces (26th)
  • Reese Merica: 32 kills (35th), 491 assists (3rd), 26 aces (18th)
  • Jenna Peelman: 170 kills (9th), 16 aces (30th), 48 blocks (5th),

Jac-Cen-Del's Maria Meyer was joined on the all-conference team by Kaylin Hinners, who ranked in the top 10 in assists, aces, and digs. 

Milan's three all-conference selections are: 

  • Kaiya Rinear: 143 kills (13th), 71 blocks (T-1st)
  • Autumn Rohrig: 127 kills (14th), 71 blocks (T-1st)
  • Emma Voss: 59 kills (26th), 475 assists (5th), 61 aces (3rd), 28 blocks (11th), 254 digs (9th)

Jillian Gregory was Switzerland County's lone all-conference selection. 

The 2023 ORVC Mental Attitude Award went to Switzerland County's Macy Collier. South Ripley head coach Lisa Gilpin is the 2023 ORVC Coach of the Year.
