Six Earn ORVC Weekly Honors

Rising Sun, South Ripley, Southwestern, Shawe Memorial and Switz. Co. had weekly honorees.

(Rising Sun, Ind.) - Six student athletes have earned weekly honors from the Ohio River Valley Conference.

The ORVC Report for November 25-30 was released on Tuesday.

South Ripley’s Blaine Ward and Switzerland County’s Cam Craig were selected as the ORVC Boys Basketball Players of the Week.

Ward totaled 45 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists in his team’s first two games of the season. On Saturday night, Ward scored a game-high 24 points in a win over Rising Sun on his way to eclipsing the 1,000-career point mark.

Cam Craig, a fellow 1,000-point scorer, got his season off to a strong start by scoring 59 points and grabbing 17 rebounds over two-games. Thirty-three of his 59 points this season came against Lawrenceburg.

Rising Sun’s Carrigan Friend and Shawe Memorial’s Audrey Barron are the ORVC Girls Basketball Players of the Week.

Friend scored 24 points and went 11-for-12 from the free throw line in a 57-44 win over Hauser. Barron had a near triple-double with 27 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists against Christian Academy.

Max Mossburger and Olivia Graver, both of Rising Sun, were named the ORVC Boys and Girls Swimmers of the Week.
