SD Archers Compete at Open Championship; Crisswell Wins Sophomore Division

(Myrtle Beach, SC.) – Eleven archers from South Dearborn High School put their talents on display last week in South Carolina.

The National Archery in the Schools Program held their 2023 Open Championship June 6-10 in Myrtle Beach.

South Dearborn was among 36 teams from across the country. The Knights finished 23rd overall with a team score of 3202 and 123 tens.  

The top individual for South Dearborn was Makayla Crisswell. She placed 14th out of 356 high school girls, including first place in the sophomore division, which was made up of 95 archers.

Crisswell showed impressive skill, scoring 288 points out of 300, including 20 tens.

Jackson Chipman also had a standout performance, placing 12th out of 353 high school boys. His score of 292 (22 tens) was good for sixth place among high school seniors.

Brayden Huddleston – 12-th out of 353 High School Boys, 19th out of 88 freshman boys, 225th overall

Austin Hoskins – 145th out of 353 High School Boys, 53rd out of 90 senior boys, 269th overall

  • Score: 274, Tens: 9

Adam Strasemeier – 171st out of 353 High School Boys, 60th out of 90 senior boys, 328th overall

  • Score: 271, Tens: 9

Calvin Cowell – 246th out of 353 High School Boys, 69th out of 101 sophomore boys, 547th overall

  • Score: 260, Tens: 6

Jacob Post – 287th out of 353 High School Boys, 78th out of 90 senior boys, 682nd overall

  • Score: 253, Tens: 4

Savanah Dietrich – 281st out of 356 High School Girls, 72nd out of 98 freshman girls, 675th overall

  • Score: 252, Tens: 7

Abigail German – 317th out of 356 High School Girls, 82nd out of 95 sophomore girls, 822nd overall
