Rivertown Classic Draw: SD Draws Rival Lawrenceburg, Rising Sun Gets Switz. Co.

Eagle Country 99.3 will broadcast all eight games.

(Aurora, Ind.) - It wouldn't be the start of a new year without the Rivertown Classic. 

The 21st annual Rivertown Classic will take place at South Dearborn High School on January 6-9. 

The four-night tournament will feature boys and girls basketball teams from South Dearborn, Lawrenceburg, Rising Sun and Switzerland County. Also known as the "Old Sectional". 

The girls will tip-off the tournament on Wednesday evening with the opening contest being played between the host Lady Knights (0-12) and the Lawrenceburg Lady Tigers (9-5) at 6:00 p.m.. Rising Sun (2-8) and Switzerland County (9-2) will follow at approximately 7:30. 

The consolation and championship games will be played on Friday, January 8 starting at 6:00 p.m.

The Lady Tigers are the defending champions, and have won the tournament four years in a row. 

On the boys side, play will begin on Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. with the same matchups. South Dearborn (4-3) and Lawrenceburg (3-4) in game one, followed by Rising Sun (1-3) and Switzerland County (2-9). 

The consolation and championship games will be played on Saturday, January 9 starting at 6:00 p.m.

The Tigers have won five of the last six tournaments, including last year's event. Last year's championship was a record-setter for Lawrenceburg, winning their eighth RTC overall. 

Eagle Country 99.3 will broadcast all eight RTC games. 

The annual Cheerleading Contest will be held Saturday, January 9 at 12:00 p.m.
