(Santiago, Chile) – Mason Parris has added another gold medal to his trophy case.
The Lawrenceburg native and most recent NCAA Heavyweight Champion wrestled three matches on Wednesday to capture gold at the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile.
Parris won the 125 kg, or heavyweight division, by going 3-0.
He outscored his opposition 24-0 over the three matches, defeating Elison Adames (Dominican Republic) 12-0, Aaron Johnson (Jamaica) 10-0, and Jose Diaz (Venezuela) 2-0.
In September, Parris won bronze at the World Wrestling Championship which qualified Team USA to compete in the 125 kg division at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The final 2024 U.S. Olympic Trails Qualifier will be held in March.
