ORVC Names Weekly Award Recipients for First Two Weeks of Spring Sports

Student-athletes from Rising Sun, Milan, South Ripley, Jac-Cen-Del and Shawe Memorial were honored.

(Rising Sun, Ind.) – The first two ORVC weekly reports of the spring season were released on Wednesday.

Weekly awards went to student-athletes from Rising Sun, Milan, South Ripley, Jac-Cen-Del and Shawe Memorial.

The ORVC Baseball Player of the Week for April 3-8 is Peyton Merica. The Rising Sun senior collected six hits, eight runs and 10 stolen bases. He also tossed a complete game, gave up zero earned runs and struck out 11 on the mound.

Shawe Memorial’s Wyatt Nichter was named the ORVC Baseball Player of the Week for March 27-April 1.

The first two Softball Player of the Week honorees are Brooklyn Brown (South Ripley) and Kynadee Bode (Milan).

Brown totaled 11 hits, 11 RBI, 10 runs, seven doubles, and two home runs in three games between April 3-8. Bode, a freshman, tossed a five-inning no-hitter vs. Oldenburg and had 4 RBI at the plate from March 27 to April 1.

Nate Elliot is the ORVC Boys Golfer of the Week. The Rising Sun star carded a nine-hole round of 43 at Belterra.

The top track performers over the first two weeks of the spring sports season are Ayden Potts (Milan), Corbin White (JCD), Shelby Bastin (South Ripley), and Josie Havlin (Milan).
