Milan Duo Earn MIFC Weekly Honors

See who was named the Offensive, Defensive, and Special Teams Players of the Week

(Milan, Ind.) - Week 1 of the High School Football season is in the books. 

On Tuesday, the Mid-Indiana Football Conference named their Week 1 Players of the Week and Top Performers. 

North Decatur running back Simon Barber is the MIFC Offensive Player of the Week. He carried the ball 19 times for 190 yards and two touchdowns in a 39-2 win over South Decatur. Barber also caught three passes for 80 yards. 

The MIFC Defensive Player of the Week is Milan linebacker Kamden Miller. He recorded 5 assists, 5 solo tackles, 3 tackles for a loss, 0.5 sacks, one pressure in a 56-0 win at Rushville. 

Miller's teammate, Hayden Poole, is the MIFC Special Teams Player of the Week. Poole had two kickoff returns for 95 yards, and three punt returns for 59 yards. He scored one touchdown. 

Of the MIFC's six teams, four were victorious in Week 1. Switzerland County (42-6 over Crawford County) and Edinburgh (35-12 over Indy Tinsley) joined North Decatur and Milan in the win column.
