Local Sports Report - October 23-24, 2020

The IHSAA State Football Tournament got underway and local cross country stars competed at semi state.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 23

FOOTBALL

Class 3A Sectional 31 - First Round

#6 Lawrenceburg 33, Brownstown Central 20 (Eagle Country 99.3 Feature Game) - After a lengthy weather delay, the Tigers came out strong and led 13-0 in the first half. Brownstown Central would take the lead 20-13 in the 3rd quarter before the Tigers rallied for 20 unanswered points. 

Scottsburg vs. Rushville - Rushville withdrew from the tournament, therefore Scottsburg advances. 

Franklin County 21, Batesville 0 

Greensburg 36, Charlestown 0 

*Semi-finals: Lawrenceburg at Scottsburg and Franklin County at Greensburg.

 

Class 4A Sectional 23 - First Round 

Greenwood 47, South Dearborn 26 - The Knights end the season with a 4-5 record. 

Martinsville 42, Jennings County 11

#5 East Central 35, #9 Silver Creek 0 

#3 Mooresville 48, Madison 0 

*Semi-finals: Greenwood at Martinsville and East Central at Mooresville

 

Class 1A Sectional 47 - First Round 

Tri 41, Oldenburg Academy 14

Milan 34, South Decatur 6 

North Decatur 38, Cambridge City 0 

Knightstown 22, Hagerstown 6 

*Semi-finals: Milan at Tri and North Decatur at Knightstown 

 

Class 2A Sectional 39 - First Round

Triton Central 50, Switzerland County 0 - The Pacers finish the season with a 3-6 record. 

 

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24

Cross Country - Semi State at Shelbyville

The Batesville boys team finished 13th, while the Lady Bulldogs finished 12th.
