INDIANAPOLIS - East Central, Lawrenceburg, and Milan will start the 2025 high school football season as ranked teams.

The Indiana Football Coaches Association released their Preseason Polls on Monday morning.

In Class 5A, East Central begins the season ranked #5 behind New Palestine, Indianapolis Cathedral, Merrillville and Bloomington South. The Trojans went 8-4 last season and won their first 5A sectional championship in school history. East Central is entering their second year playing at the 5A level based off of Tournament Success Factor.

Should East Central win a regional championship this season, they will stay at the 5A level for the next two seasons. Anything short of a regional title will put the Trojans back in Class 4A.

In Class 3A, the Lawrenceburg Tigers will begin the season ranked #4. They are behind Fort Wayne Luers, Evansville Memorial, and Gibson Southern. Lawrenceburg went 10-2 last season but fell to Batesville in the sectional championship. After missing out on winning a sectional titel each of the past two seasons, the Tigers previously won six sectional titles in seven years dating back to 2016.

Batesville, winners of two straight sectional titles, received votes but will start the season just outside the Top 10 in Class 3A.

Milan is among the top teams in Class 1A, ranking 7th in the preseason poll. They trail Providence, North Judson, South Putnam, North Decatur, Carroll (Flora), and South Adams.

The Indians went 8-5 last season, winning a sectional title over rival North Decatur. They would fall in the regional championship to eventual state champion Providence.
