The final of six road races took place on Saturday in Batesville.

(Batesville, Ind.) - Joe Hawkins and Lanie Nicholson are the 2023 Southeastern Indiana Racing Circuit champions.
Both cruised to overall championships on Saturday at the Bulldog Chase 5K in Batesville.
In the end, Hawkins, 15, of Greensburg, outlasted Riehle with an overall time of 1:23:22. Riehle’s total time was 1:25:15.
Hawkins won the final of six SIRC races with a time of 16:42. He held off Ben Riehle, who finished the Bulldog Chase in fourth place with a time of 17:41
Nicholson, 19, of Versailles, placed second among the female competitors at the Bulldog Chase 5K with a time of 19:02. Only Megan Cole, also of Versailles, had a better time at 17:46.
This year, the SIRC awards were based on five race results. For those who competed in all six races, their total time was based on their five best races.
