(Greensburg, Ind.) - The Greendale Middle School (GMS) Tigers boys cross country team claimed their second consecutive conference championship on Monday night at Greensburg.

James Pursell was the top performer, placing second overall with a time of 10:19.5. Elijah Noppert finished 5th with a time of 11:04.9. Brenden Wurtzler was 8th, Miles Lightner was 9th and Henry Gilliland was 11th.

Head coach Justin Noppert tells Eagle Country 99.3 that the victory highlights a season of dedication and grit with the Tigers showing depth, teamwork, and consistency throughout their races.

The GMS girls team did not factor into the team scoring at the conference championship due to an incomplete team. However, Ava Shelton placed 8th overall with a time of 13:19.3. Lily Kearns was 12th, crossing the finish line in 13:50.0.

Eight boys and two girls have qualified to compete in the Indiana Middle School Cross Country Championships this Saturday, October 4 in Terre Haute.

“This group has worked hard all season, and it’s exciting to see their efforts rewarded with another conference championship,” said Coach Noppert. “We’re proud of every athlete on this team, and we’re looking forward to seeing what they can accomplish at state.”
