Former ECHS Track Star Sets UIndy Pentathlon Record

INDIANAPOLIS – A former East Central High School track & field star is doing big things at the collegiate level.

On Tuesday, the University of Indianapolis announced that Ellie Lengerich was named to the Indoor All-Region Team by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Lengerich, a junior, earned recognition after she placed first in the Pentathlon at the GLVC Championship.

The event featured the 60 Meter Hurdles (2nd), High Jump (2nd), Long Jump (3rd), Shot Put (1st), and 800 Meter Run (1st).

Between the five events, Lengerich set a new school record with 3,790 points.
