(St. Leon, Ind.) – East Central senior running back Josh Ringer is up for a statewide award after a record-tying performance last Friday.

Eight student-athletes from across Indiana have been nominated for the MaxPreps Indiana High School Athlete of the Week.

Ringer earned his nomination by scoring six touchdowns in a 42-7 win over Lawrenceburg, which tied his previous school record for points in a game (36) that he set in 2022 against South Dearborn.

The Miami (Oh.) commit carried the ball 12 times for 160 yards and five touchdowns. He also caught a 29-yard touchdown pass from Cole Burton.

Ringer also scored on a magnificent 53-yard TD run on East Central’s first play of the game, but the score was negated by a penalty flag.

Weekly finalists are released on MaxPreps every Tuesday and voting is conducted in a special poll. Voting ceases at noon on Mondays. The winners are announced the next day along with the next week's nominees.
