EC's Meiners Named Colts/NFL Coach of the Week

The award comes after EC's 41-7 win over Guerin Catholic.

INDIANAPOLIS – East Central’s blowout win over Guerin Catholic has garnered recognition from the Indianapolis Colts.

Trojans head coach Jake Meiners has been named the Colts/NFL Coach of the Week for Week 8.

Meiners was nominated and selected for the award after his Class 4A-No. 3 East Central Trojans defeated Class 3A-No. 8 Guerin Catholic 41-7.

At the end of the season, each winning coach will receive a $1,000 donation from the NFL Foundation and a commemorative plaque. CenterPoint Energy will contribute an additional $1,000 to the school’s athletic fund.

East Central is 7-1 going into the final game of the regular season. They will host Class 4A-No. 2 Indianapolis Roncalli on Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
