Longtime East Central HS Boys Soccer Coach Steps Down After 22 Years

Congratulations to BJ Black on a fantastic run at ECHS.

(St. Leon, Ind.) - For over two decades, B.J. Black has led the East Central High School boys soccer program.

Now, the program is seeking a new head coach. The East Central Athletic Department announced today that Black is stepping away from the program after 22 seasons as head coach.

During his time on the sideline, Black compiled a record of 446-84-28.

His teams captured 18 sectional titles, seven regional championships, and were the state runner-up in 2004-05, before the state tournament was classed.

"The EC Athletic Department would like to say thank you to B.J. Black, for his dedication to the East Central boys soccer program for the last 22 years. We appreciate the time and dedication you poured into your program over the years to make it a top-tier program in the state of Indiana. Along the way, you made it about the kids, made it a family-like winning culture, created life-long friendships, taught the young men what it meant to work hard, and will be leaving the program in great shape for the next head coach," reads a statement from the EC Athletic Department.

East Central went 12-5-1 last fall, capturing the EIAC title with a perfect 7-0 record in conference play.
