WATCH: Gov. Holcomb's 2019 State Of The State Address

Watch Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb deliver his 2019 State of the State speech at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 15.

(Indianapolis, Ind.) - Indiana's governor is ready to unveil his vision for the state for the coming year.

Governor Eric Holcomb will deliver his State of the State speech Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. The speech to members of the Indiana House and Senate should last about half an hour.

The governor told reporters Monday that his speech will focus on “the simplicity of math” and tout his Next Level Agenda. He has already talked about spending more money on child welfare and public schools – new funding for those priorities were in his budget proposal unveiled last week.

Holcomb may also use the opportunity to reiterate his wish that Indiana adopt a hate crimes law, which some Republicans in the legislature have been slow to support. A bias crimes law would allow judges to hand down harsher sentences to criminals who victimize people because of their race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or other factors.

Those in southeastern Indiana will be paying close attention to whether Holcomb provides an update on the establishment of a new Ohio River port in Lawrenceburg. The port has appeared in State of the State addresses since former governor Mike Pence first revealed it in his January 2016 speech.
