Wallace Won't Be On Gubernatorial Primary Ballot

(Indianapolis, Ind.) - Mike Pence will be the Republican gubernatorial nominee in Indiana this fall.

 

The Indiana Election Commission voted 3-1 Friday to remove Jim Wallace from the primary ballot. 

 

Wallace, a Fishers businessman and former Hamilton County Councilman, was 14 signatures short of having the 500 petition signatures in the Seventh Congressional district needed to be on the ballot. 

 

Pence is poised to face John Gregg in the November 2012 general election to succeed Mitch Daniels as governor. Gregg, a former Democrat Speaker of the Indiana House, is also unopposed in the May 8 primary.

 

The election commission also voted 4-0 to uphold the candidacy of Senator Richard Lugar despite challenges from Tea Party and others that he does not live in Indiana.
