UPDATE: Police ID Victim of Fatal Collision on North Bend Road in Hebron

The names of those involved have not been released at this time.

UPDATE: The deceased is identified as Travis Jacob Freas, 30 of Cincinnati. Freas was operating a 2006 Honda Accord. The other involved party is Maria Havens, 37 of Burlington. Havens was operating a 2018 Nissan Rogue.

The exact cause of the collision remains under investigation.

 

Original story published Monday, September 19: 

(Hebron, Ky.) – One person was killed this morning in a two-vehicle accident on North Bend Road in Hebron.

Boone County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash in the area of Gateway Boulevard around 8:12 a.m.

Preliminary indications suggest that two vehicles were parallel in their respective lanes traveling southbound when they collided, causing both vehicles to travel off the roadway.

One vehicle continued along the embankment and maneuvered back onto North Bend Road, while the other struck a telephone pole.

The driver who struck the telephone pole was pronounced dead at the scene. Minor injuries were reported for the second driver.

The names of those involved are being withheld at this time.

According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, the southbound lanes of North Bend Road will remain shut down for approximately one hour from Wright Boulevard to Gateway Boulevard.
