Unconfirmed Tornado in Ripley County

(Ripley Co.) - The Ripley County Communications Center began receiving reports around 8pm yesterday evening. These were unconfirmed reports of a tornado on the ground near County Road 800 North and Michigan Road. 

Additional reports into the dispatch center of damage and a funnel cloud traveling east northeast. As of right now, no injuries associated with the storm have been reported. However, power outages, damage to homes, and roads blocked by debris have been reported across the county. The main damage has been reported along State Road 48 from Napoleon to Sunman.

Ripley County Fire Departments, Ripley County Sheriff’s Office, and the Sunman Police Department are assessing damage and clearing the roadways. Duke and REMC are working to restore power. State and County Highway Departments are also clearing roadways of debris.
