Two Injured In US 50 Crash While Fleeing Police

The accident happened just around 5:45 p.m. near Central Elementary School.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Two people were injured in a Monday afternoon crash while fleeing police. 

Indiana State Police responded to the crash on U.S. 50 near Short Street in Lawrenceburg around 5:45 p.m., where a vehicle driven by Jesse M. Fuqua, 34, of Georgetown, Kentucky collided with the rear of a Ford truck and left the roadway in front of Central Elementary School. 

Aurora Police had attempted to stop Fuqua's vehicle on U.S. 50 at Sycamore Estates Drive after the occupants of the vehicle were allegedly wanted for questioning in a theft investigation that occurred at the Aurora Wal-Mart. 

As a result of the collision, Fuqua and a female passenger in his vehicle were transported to UC Medical Center with serious injuries. The driver of the Ford truck was not injured. 

U.S. 50 was down to one lane for approximately three hours after the crash. 

The investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been filed at this time.
