(Boone County, Ky.) – A traffic switch is expected this week on Interstate 275 westbound in Boone County.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has released the timeline of traffic impacts for this week as a resurfacing project rolls on.

On Wednesday starting at 8:30 p.m., a single right lane closure for partial-depth patching work on I-275 westbound will be in place from the Boone/Kenton County line to west of Airport Access Road.

The single right lane closure will remain in place until 9:00 p.m. Thursday when a double right lane closure will go into effect as crews remove striping and re-stripe I-275 westbound in preparation for a traffic switch.

Early Friday morning, the contractor will perform the traffic switch by re-opening the right two lanes of traffic and closing the left lane of I-275 westbound in the area listed above.

Once the traffic switch has been completed, there will be two lanes of vehicular traffic in the project area. This lane configuration will be in place 24/7 as crews perform full-depth patching.

The exit off-ramp from I-275 westbound to Airport Access Road will no longer have a specific lane to decelerate before the exit ramp. Motorists are encouraged to slow down prior to the exit.

Message boards are in place warning motorists of the upcoming lane closures and traffic switch.

The full project is expected to be completed by June 30.
