(Ames, Iowa) – A group of tri-state high school students are in Iowa, meeting candidates in this week's Iowa caucuses.
The Taylor High School students are meeting Republican candidates prior to Tuesday’s primary which plays a major role in determining who the party nominee for president will be.
The 44 juniors and seniors are making the five-day trip as part of their Advanced Placement government classes with teachers Michael Voynovich and Mandy Bowen.
So far, they have rubbed elbows with former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
The students also planning meet-and-greets with Mitt Romney and Ron Paul before attending a caucus on Election Day Tuesday.
