(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Marvin Moyers Jr. has been sentenced to 100 years at the Indiana Department of Corrections.

Moyers learned his sentence last Friday after being convicted of multiple charges stemming from a burglary on Mexico Ridge Road in June of 2022.

The burglary lasted close to four hours, where the victim was attacked and confined on three separate occasions.

In January, a jury found Moyers guilty of Moyers Jr. was found guilty on numerous charges: Burglary Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, a Level 1 Felony, Burglary Armed with a Deadly Weapon, a Level 2 Felony, Criminal Confinement Armed with a Deadly Weapon, a Level 3 Felony, Criminal Confinement with Moderate Bodily Injury, a Level 4 Felony, two counts of Battery, as Level 5 Felonies and two counts of Theft, Level 6 Felonies.

The first charge carries a range of sentence from 20 to 40 years. Additionally, the state filed sentencing enhancements against Moyers for his use of a firearm during the commission of the crime, and for habitual offending. The two enhancements can add up to 40 additional years on top of the underlying convictions.

“This case was disturbing and frightening on so many levels,” said Dearborn and Ohio County Prosecutor Lynn Deddens. “There was no connection between Moyers Jr. and the victim. Moyers Jr. saw an opportunity to steal items from a citizen of Ohio County and when confronted, beat the homeowner resulting in him going unconscious and caused extreme pain. The Indiana State Police along with the Ohio County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources did a great job in gathering evidence to secure a conviction,” said Deddens.
