Sugarland Singer To Give Deposition In April

(Indianapolis, Ind.) - Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles will have to testify regarding last summer's Indiana State Fair stage collapse within the next three weeks.

The Indianapolis Star says a judge has ordered the singer to make herself available between April 1 and 15 to give a deposition in the matter.

With her testimony Nettles will get the chance to refute allegations that Sugarland insisted on performing even though they knew a storm was approaching the area.

Nettles' bandmates and others associated with the group will also have to give depositions, but at a later date.

The Mid-America Sound Corporation, which owned the stage, had asked the judge to require everyone with Sugarland to testify before the end of March, while the group's attorney wanted Sugarland's depositions delayed until May.

Just minutes before the duo was to launch their performance at the Indiana State Fair last August a strong gust of wind toppled the stage.

Seven people were killed in the collapse and more than 40 others were injured.

Several lawsuits have stemmed from the tragedy, in which both Sugarland and Mid-America Sound Corporation have been named defendants.

Settlement negotiations in some of the cases are scheduled to begin on April 17.
