(Batesville, Ind.) - Dave Strouse, principal of Batesville Middle School (BMS), has announced that he will transition to a statewide educational leadership role as Assistant Executive Director of the Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP) in July. Strouse leaves the Batesville Community School Corporation (BCSC) after serving for 13 years in leadership at the middle school level.

A beloved community member and highly regarded administrator, Strouse was named the Indiana State Middle School Principal of the Year in 2017. He served as President of IASP in 2017 and most recently has served on that organization’s Executive Committee as the State Coordinator for the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP). NASSP is a leading professional organization for middle level and high school principals, assistant principals, and other school leaders in the United States and internationally, offering professional development, research, and advocacy. Additionally, through the Indiana New Administrators Institute, Strouse has mentored 27 new principals and assistant principals across Indiana.

“It has been an incredible honor to serve the students, families, staff, and community of Batesville,” Strouse shared. “I am grateful for the relationships and experiences that have shaped me both personally and professionally, and I know Batesville Community Schools will continue to thrive because of the outstanding people who make this district so special. Our family is proud to continue calling Batesville home as we look forward to our son, Brody, graduating from Batesville High School in 2030.”

“We are so very proud of Mr. Strouse for deciding to take a role that will make a broader impact in the state of Indiana,” said Dr. Katy Eastes, BCSC superintendent. “We have been blessed to have him as our middle school principal for many years. He embraced the role with his whole heart, cultivating hundreds of our Bulldogs over these years and preparing them for the high school experience. He will be greatly missed at BCSC, and we celebrate this new opportunity with him and wish him the best in this next chapter of his career.”

The search for a new BMS principal is expected to start soon.
