State Road 56 Temporarily Closed East of Madison

(Jefferson Co.) - The Indiana Department of Transportation has temporarily closed State Road 56 approximately 4.6 miles east of Madison for slide repairs in Jefferson County.

The closure is located between North Bee Camp Road and North Shirks Hollow Road near Brooksburg. S.R. 56 will remain closed until traffic signals can be installed on a later date, opening the road to one lane. Additional information and updates will be provided as it becomes available.

Motorists should detour utilizing S.R. 56 to S.R. 101 to U.S. 42 into Kentucky to KY 36 to U.S. 421 while the closure is in place.

INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution, and avoid distractions when traveling in and near work zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules
