School and corporation letter grades were released Thursday by the Ohio Department of Education.

(Harrison, Oh.) - Ohio schools’ state report cards were sent home Thursday.
Southwest Local Schools and Three Rivers Local School districts each received a district-wide grade of C for the 2018-2019 school year report cards, released by the Ohio Department of Education. District summaries showing letter grades for various performance standards are shown below.
At Southwest Local, the highest letter grade of A went to Crosby Elementary School. Earning a B were Harrison Elementary, Miamitown Elementary and Whitewater Valley Elementary schools. Harrison Middle School and William Henry Harrison High School received C’s. The corporation-wide C grade was down from a B last year, although the district's performance index improved from 92.9 to 95.0.
Both Taylor High School and Three Rivers Elementary in Three Rivers School District earned C’s on their report cards. The corporation's performance index did improve from 88.3 in 2018 to 90.4 this year.
Statewide, student proficiency increased for the third consecutive year in both English/language arts and mathematics. Across the state, 56.3 percent of schools increased their performance index scores.
State superintendent of public instruction Paolo DeMaria said Ohio is getting better and better at challenging, preparing and empowering each child.
“We are seeing positive results from the focus on equity, partnerships and quality schools for all students. I applaud the hard work by students, teachers, parents and community members that has led to the progress we see. That said, we must keep pushing forward. We will continue to implement Each Child, Our Future, Ohio’s shared strategic plan for education, and keep looking for ways to more effectively serve the state’s 1.7 million students,” said DeMaria.
