(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - A Lawrenceburg man is facing charges after gunshots were reportedly fired on May 31.
According to Dearborn County Communications, the gunshots were reported around 3:10 a.m. in the 250 block of Bellaire Drive in Lawrenceburg.
A caller told dispatch that he heard gunshots then heard someone say, "call 911." The caller then stated he heard four gunshots and two people screaming at each other.
When Lawrenceburg Police arrived on the scene, gunshots were heard coming from the area of Village Drive. It was determined that the shots took place at the Knoll Court apartments. Police observed bullet holes in in the windows of an apartment rented by Jared Hrezo. Investigators say some gunshots exited the window facing the other apartments and parking lot area.
Inside the apartment, police allegedly located an AR-15 firearm.
During a protective sweep of the residence, police observed Hrezo say on his own without being questioned, "I shot...please, I was being attacked." He continued by saying that his apartment is bugged and that "they" have been extorting him all day. According to a probable cause affidavit, Hrezo then asked if police "got the other people" and that "they were watching him with cameras and making him do things all day."
Hrezo also told investigators that he saw people in hazmat suits and was "scared for his life."
No one was injured in the incident.
Hrezo is charged with three counts of Criminal Recklessness (Level 5 Felony), and one count of Intimidation (Level 5 Felony). He is currently held in Dearborn County Jail on $250,000 surety plus $50,000 cash.
The Court has been notified of an insanity defense, and two competent, disinterested psychiatrists will be appointed to examine Hrezo and report to the Court on his competence to stand trial.
