Update: The road has now opened up.
(Switzerland County, Ind.) - Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Sunesis Construction Company is scheduled to close State Road 156 just east of Florence on or after Monday, October 6, to perform slide correction work in Switzerland County.
The closure will take place on S.R. 156 between Turtle Creek Road and Bulgar Tapp Road and is expected to take up to one week, weather permitting. During the closure, motorists should use the official detour route which follows S.R. 56.
This project is part of a $6 million contract awarded to Sunesis in January 2023.
INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution and avoid distractions when traveling near work zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
