(Batesville, Ind.) - Jeremy Sherman has been selected as the next Batesville Intermediate School (BIS) Principal, pending approval from the Batesville Community School Corporation’s (BCSC) Board of Trustees. He will begin his new role on January 1, 2027.
Sherman brings a broad background in education and school leadership, with experience supporting students, strengthening school culture, and building relationships with families. A Greensburg resident, he comes to BCSC from Decatur County Community Schools, where he has served as Assistant Principal of North Decatur Elementary since 2019.
A 2012 graduate of Indiana University in Columbus with dual licensure in elementary education and computer technology, Sherman received his master’s degree in education from Ball State University two years later. He earned his building-level administrator’s license through Indiana Wesleyan University in 2017. Before entering school administration, he taught third grade at Triton Central Elementary in Fairland, Indiana, for seven years.
“Throughout this process, we took the time to listen to our BIS staff through surveys and focus groups to understand the qualities they felt were most important in their next principal,” remarked Dr. Katy Eastes, BCSC Superintendent. “In Mr. Sherman, we found a leader who embodies those qualities. He brings a strong knowledge of education, a warm and approachable leadership style, and a genuine commitment to people. I am confident he will be a wonderful fit for Batesville Intermediate School, and I am excited for our students, staff, and families to get to know him.”
Sherman and his wife, Kim, who serves as a Title I Interventionist at South Decatur Elementary, have four children: Donovan, 11; Natalie, 9; Jameson, 6; and Gideon, 4. Outside of school, he enjoys spending time with his family, attending his children's activities, and traveling to explore new places.
“I started my career as a third-grade teacher, so working with students in these grades feels like coming home,” Sherman said. “I am excited to support the teachers at BIS, build strong partnerships with families, and keep students at the center of every decision. I can’t wait to get to know the Batesville community and am grateful to Dr. Eastes and the school board for this opportunity.”
