SEI Riverboats' 2011 Revenues Top $675M

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - 2011 was a slightly better year for southeast Indiana’s three riverboat casinos.

 

The Indiana Gaming Commission’s end of the year report shows Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg, Rising Star Casino Resort in Rising Sun, and Belterra Casino Spa & Resort in Florence, Indiana combined for $675.7 million in revenue last year.

 

The revenue figure is about a half million dollars better than 2010, even though last year’s attendance fell by 2.6 percent. In all, 6.7 million people visited the riverboats.

 

Hollywood Casino continued to dominate the local gaming market in 2011 by claiming 65 percent of revenues. The area’s biggest boat raked in $436.5 million, about even with 2010’s revenue total of $437 million. 

 

Attendance at Hollywood reached 3.8 million people, off 2.6 percent from about 3.9 million in 2010.

 

Rising Star Casino in Rising Sun – purchased by Las Vegas casino operator Full House Resorts in March and later renamed in August –saw revenues fall by 4.6 percent to $93.3 million in 2011 from $97.8 million the prior year.

 

Attendance at the Rising Sun riverboat dipped 3.5 percent to 1.3 million visitors.

 

Belterra Casino was the only local riverboat to see revenues increase, improving by 3.9 percent to $145.9 million in 2011 from $140 million in 2010. The better bottom line came despite attendance at Belterra falling by 0.7 percent to 1.7 million visitors.

 

Statewide, Indiana’s 13 casinos and horse track “racinos” garnered revenue of $2.7 billion, a decline of 2.6 percent. Twenty-five million people visited the casinos, down 5.7 percent from 2010.
