Rising Sun’s Stars & Stripes Celebration Lights Up Stage & Sky

The event will take place July 1 along Front Street and the Ohio Riverfront.

(Rising Sun, Ind.) - The City of Rising Sun, the Rising Sun Lion’s Club, and Ohio County Tourism are co-sponsoring the Rising Sun Stars & Stripes Celebration on Saturday, July 1 from 4-11 PM along Front Street and Rising Sun Riverfront Park.

The Stars & Stripes festivities include a golf cart parade, arts/craft/info vendors, food trucks, and live music featuring 50s-60s tunes by the The Belairs Show Band from 4-6 PM under the Main Street Pavilion; bluegrass by Seth Mulder & Midnight Run from 6-8 PM under the playground shelter; and classic rock from DV8 from 8-10 PM at the Main Street pavilion.

The One Sunny Day organization will host a patriotic Golf Cart Parade with prizes awarded to winning entries. The procession meets at City Hall at 4pm and promptly departs at 5 PM. A $20 entry fee will be collected as fundraiser to go towards making the local schools safer. More information can be obtained by contacting Abby Fox at abbyfox417@gmail.com.

Cincinnati deejay J.D. Hughes will get the party started at the riverfront at 4 PM. Joy Unspeakable-The Living Statue can be found around the festival area from 4-9 PM. A free foam party for the kids will take place on 2nd Street from 4-9 PM.

Rising Sun-Ohio County Community School student, Kiera Otter, will perform the National Anthem to kick off the spectacular fireworks display that begins at 10 PM. Attendees should bring their own lawn chairs and blankets for the music and fireworks.

In case of inclement weather, only the fireworks will be rescheduled for Sunday, July 2.
