Rising Sun Municipal Utilities Reminds Customers Moratorium Expires Today

Customers that are delinquent and/or in arrears will be disconnected from service on Thursday, August 27.

(Rising Sun, Ind.) - Rising Sun Municipal Utilities (RSMU) are reminding customers that the moratorium on disconnection for utility service ended August 14. With this being said, the standard procedures for service and billing have resumed.

Customers that are delinquent and/or in arrears will be disconnected from service on August 27. It is encouraged for these customers to set up a payment plan with the RSMU, 200 N. Walnut Street, Rising Sun. You may also call (812) 438-3616 for additional information.

Those that are delinquent and/or in arrears and engage in a payment plan prior to August 27 will not be disconnected. Customers that fail to set up a payment plan or do not bring their account payment up to date will be subject to disconnection beginning August 27.

In a notice to customers, the utility office explained that although these times are difficult, it is important to improve service capabilities and maintain the utility infrastructure:

"The RSMU understands that these have been and continue to be difficult times for all of our customers. The RSMU has continued and will continue to provide our customers with the best service that we have to offer. This promise requires the utility to constantly improve our service capabilities and maintain our utility infrastructure. These promises do come a cost, and, as a result, standard billing practices will resume. Please take advantage of the payment plan option, as well as other local resources to assist in payment of your account."
