(Batesville, Ind.) - Eric Peetz, a current Batesville Community School Corporation (BCSC) administrator, will move to Batesville High School (BHS) to take over as that school’s assistant principal, pending school board approval.

Peetz has served as Dean of Students and then Assistant Principal at Batesville Intermediate School (BIS) since the fall of 2018. His proven leadership, along with a positive approach to disciplinary issues and the development of a variety of school improvement measures, made him a natural choice.

In his administrative roles at BIS, Peetz created a new student handbook and initiated new methods of tracking behavior and attendance issues. On the school safety front, he is certified in both Crisis Prevention & Intervention and School Safety. He has experience conducting teacher assessments and has in-depth knowledge about educational accommodations. Peetz also brings Bulldog Ready expertise to BHS, having served on the corporation's Design Thinking and Student Voice implementation teams. His experience will provide valuable perspective as BCSC enters the third year of the initiative’s roll-out. “Eric Peetz comes to BHS with eight years of leadership experience in school administration,” explained Principal Brad Stoneking. “He knows our corporation, our systems, and our Bulldog Ready program, and most importantly, he knows our students and families very well. He is a man of integrity and leads with consistency and fairness for all students. I am excited to welcome him as a crucial member of our leadership team.”

After obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Marian University in 2007, Peetz went on to earn a Master’s degree in the same field from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2012, followed by his School Administration certification in 2021. Before his administrative roles, he taught fourth grade at BIS for 10 years, during which he was honored as a 2017 Indiana State Teacher of the Year Semifinalist. He is a member of the Indiana Association of School Principals.

“Batesville High School is among the elite high schools in the state of Indiana, and it is a true honor to be asked to assist in leading it alongside Mr. Stoneking,” Peetz said. “The opportunities that BHS students are afforded are unmatched. I am fully committed to maintaining a safe and positive school climate where all students feel welcome, have a sense of belonging, and have the confidence and determination to seek out all of those opportunities.

“It is also an honor to serve alongside the teachers there,” Peetz continued. “It is my commitment to them to be present, seek out their opinions, and provide my unwavering support.”

In his spare time, Peetz enjoys traveling and exercising, including golfing and hiking. His favorite activities include spending time outdoors with family and friends, especially around a campfire with ‘90s country music playing. He and his wife Amber and their children, Jackson and Ella, both BHS students, are Batesville residents. Athletics play a major part in the lives of the entire family, and they enjoy their involvement with the Community Church of Batesville.

“I am excited to get started with the outstanding BHS team and all of the students,” Peetz concluded. “Together, we will do great things.”
