Ripley Co. Republicans Pick New Treasurer

Cathy Volz was selected by a Republican party caucus.

(Ripley County, Ind.) - Cathy Volz will be Ripley County’s next county treasurer, if only for a year.

A Republican caucus held Monday, July 30 saw Volz, of Osgood, elected by a secret ballot from 24 GOP precinct committee persons, Ripley County Republican Party chairwoman Ginger Bradford told The Batesville Herald-Tribune. The other candidates running in the caucus were current county auditor Bill Wagner and Lisa Vestal.

Volz will finish out the final year of Amy Copeland’s four-year term as treasurer, starting January 1, 2019.

Copeland will resign as treasurer effective December 31, when she will then become the new county auditor. She is unopposed for auditor on the November ballot. Wagner is term-limited from running for re-election as auditor.

Volz's time as county treasurer could be longer than a year if she runs for re-election in 2019.
