(Osgood, Ind.) - We will learn more Wednesday about two shocking crimes in Ripley County.

A teenager is reported to be the suspect in the deaths of his own siblings.

Twenty-three-month-old Desiree McCartney died at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in May of 2017 after first responders went to the family’s home in Osgood. The following July, 11-month-old brother Nathaniel Ritz also died.

The Hamilton County Coroner ruled McCartney’s cause of death as suffocation by smothering. A cause of Ritz’s death has not been released.

Ripley County Prosecutor Ric Hertel is planning to share more information and possible charges regarding the sibling deaths during a Wednesday press conference. Hertel noted that the suspect is also a juvenile.
