REMC and SEI Communications will be working together to bring high-speed internet to rural communities in the area.

(Osgood, Ind.) – High-speed internet service is coming soon to rural communities in southeastern Indiana.
Southeastern Indiana REMC announced this week that materials are being delivered for the SEI FIBER project, and that construction of the fiber backbone is set to begin in April.
REMC and SEI Communications announced a joint venture agreement in November of 2020. The REMC will build out the fiber network and SEI Communications will connect the service to homes and businesses.
Because of state and RDOF grants, the organizations are required to build in certain areas, based on funding provided for specific census blocks.
According to the REMC website, the entire project will take place within a four-year timeframe.
Installations in the first zones are tentatively scheduled to begin in early June.
