UPDATE: Person Killed In US 52 Crash

UPDATE: U.S. 52 between Cedar Grove and New Trenton has reopened following a fatal crash Wednesday morning.

Update published at 12:45 p.m.:

Franklin County dispatchers advise that U.S. 52 has reopened to traffic just west of New Trenton. It reopened just after noon.

The highway had been closed since a fatal crash occurred between a semi tractor trailer and a passenger vehicle there around 6:00 a.m.

Indiana State Police are expected to lead the investigation into the crash. They have not released any further information.

(New Trenton, Ind.) - A fatal accident has forced the closure of U.S. 52 in southeastern Franklin County on Wednesday morning.

A semi and a passenger vehicle collided on the highway between Cedar Grove and New Trenton at around 6:00 a.m., according to Indiana State Police at the Versailles Post.

One person was killed in the crash.

It is unclear if there were other people involved who may have been injured.

U.S. 52 is likely to remain closed for at least a couple more hours, state police said.
