Pedestrian Killed in Dixie Highway Crash, Driver in Custody on DUI, Manslaughter Charges

The accident took place late Wednesday night.

(Florence, Ky.) - A pedestrian was struck and killed on Wednesday night along Dixie Highway. 

Florence Police responded to the accident just south of Industrial Road around 11:18 p.m.

The preliminary investigation showed that a gray Dodge Caravan was traveling northbound on Dixie Highway and struck the victim as he was attempting to cross the road. 

Florence EMS arrived on scene and pronounced the victim deceased. The victim's name was not released. 

The operator of the vehicle, Kelly Schulze, of Columbus, Ohio, was taken into custody and transported to the Boone County Detention Center. Schulze is being charged with DUI (Aggravating Circumstances) and Manslaughter. 

The incident remains under investigation.
