Hoosier Boys State is a week-long leadership program for high school juniors in Indiana, designed to teach civic engagement, government processes, and leadership skills through a simulated state government experience.
This year's program was held June 14-19 at Trine University in Angola.
Mersmann, an incoming senior at East Central High School served as a state representative and co-counsel petitioner for a Supreme Court Case.
He credits the skills he learned at last summer's Dearborn County Leadership and Law internship program, where he gained extensive knowledge of the state's legal system and the importance of networking, communication, and working as a team.
