More than 100 children from over 50 families came to the department to meet Santa Claus on December 19. “Three years ago in 2015 our attendance to see Santa was only 30 children,” says Fire Chief Kyle Negangard. “Our members were not happy with the attendance falling from years past so we banded together to plan a bigger and better visit the following year lead by David Brook and Alex Brison.” Thanks to donations from the Osgood American Legion, the fire department was able to give each visiting child a toy and a candy bar. Several families in need were also provided gifts and wrapping paper from Santa’s helpers at the small town fire department. “We have started to plan for 2018 Christmas and can only expect it to be bigger and better,” Negangard says. If you know of or are a family in need in the Osgood area, contact the Osgood Volunteer Fire Department at (812) 689-4142 for help next Christmas season.
